DF7G-E diesel locomotive

Running safety on track test for DF7G-E Diesel Shunting locomotive have been carried out in Estonia in 7/13/2013-7/14/2013. DF7G-E Diesel Shunting locomotive is made by Beijing Feb.7th Railway Transportation Equipment Co., Ltd for Estonia railway company according to European standard EN 50215:2009―Railway applications – Rolling stock - Testing of rolling stock on completion of construction and before entry into service” and UIC 518:2005―Testing and approval of railway vehicles from the point of view of their dynamic behaviour - Safety - Track fatigue - Ride quality”. The test apply simplified method without measure H force to evaluate the running safety of the locomotive.

The related technical parameters of DF7G-E locomotive are the following:

Before the test, the locomotive was completely in readiness, completed each subsystem status check and static test, and was able to operate normally. The locomotive was tested in single without hauling any wagon. These were 8 people in the cab when testing. The conduction of the test in both directions of travel is obeyed easily by means of the exchange of the driver’s console and not of the entire locomotive. The effects of the approximation can be considered in the order of a few percent being about symmetrical respect to the geometric center of the locomotive.

Test was conducted under new wheel profiles which lead to a provisional approval.

Due to the high values of the conicity, the test with new profiles can be accepted if the acceleration measurements result less than the maximum acceptable accelerations in the UIC518 standard by 20%. Otherwise, additional tests or worn monitoring are required.

This test will be carried out in line EVR line. According to the results of the consultations, the test will be conducted in the following three kinds of zones:

  1. Zone on tangent track and curves with very large radius (R≥2500m);
  2. Zone in large-radius curves (600m≤R≤2500m);
  3. Curves with small radius(400m≤R≤600m);
  4. Curves with very small radius(250m≤R<400m).

The accelerometerswere installed through stick method.

  • Accelerations in bogie: on the top surface of the bogie corresponds to the first and last axle box vertically;
  • Accelerations in body: On the car body correspond to the center bogie.
